It’s On!

Posted in News on September 29, 2008 by theare

Ok, I’m back in business. The power came back Saturday afternoon and I’m finally getting back to biz. It’s been a tough 2 weeks. You don’t truely realize how shitty things can be when your camping in your own house. Ice chest, flashlights, open windows etc. See what gets me the most is that I’m so used to making beats everyday that I think i was going through withdraw.

Anyway, during all this down time, I started thinking about all the beats I’ve made in the past and how many i have in the AREchives. Here’s the deal. Beats are going up for SALE. Spread the word. Artist if you want a beat by The ARE, contact me asap on my blog and we’ll get it moving. I know what you might be thinking. Trackmasters prices huh? NO, these are The ARE’s feeling generous prices so hit me up soon.

This Hurricane is a lowsey prank from the gods

Posted in News on September 26, 2008 by theare

things have’nt been very good here lately. I’m still dealing with the aftermath of hurricane ike. It’s been 13 days now without electricty. My next door neighbor has had power over a week ago. Me and the neighbors on the otherside have’nt been so fortunate. I’ve lost my mind over it days ago and now I’ve become numb. No music being made here. No a/c to inhale. The gods have pulled this trick for way too long now. Please understand this is not just about me. I feel that everyone should have electricity by now.

I’m Alive

I have’nt been able to get online much because of the hurricane. Still no electricity here at my home. It’s been a week now and it does’nt seem like the the power will be on anytime soon. This shit is dragging on and on. The good news is me and my family are safe and well. Not too much damage to the house and the weather has been cool. I stuck it out here by myself during the hurricane and these 100 mph winds were no joke. I’ve never seen anything like it in person. It was brutal. I can’t wait to get back to business, i’m dying inside to make music. No electricity = no music being made. Centerpoint energy, your time is up!!! Fix this shit now!!

ok, so check this out. When we all went in to do Kims album, the plan was to make the shit as raw as possible. We wanted to take Kim back to her first album. After I produced her joint “Chillin Tonight” we were on the road to accomplishing just that. This is another one among many that we did and if the album comes out the way we made it, Be Prepared!! Produced by my partner in crime Just Nyce of the Trackmasters “Shook Hands”

Somthing to think about….Production credits

Posted in random on September 1, 2008 by theare

You know as much as I embrace the internet and digital age, getting production credit is getting harder and harder. You see, a few years back your name would be on the jacket of the 12 inch single, on the label of the record and in the cd booklet. Now with the evergrowing internet, itunes, blogs etc, it’s easy to just put the track up with the artist name and thats it. Sure if it’s produced by Timbaland or Premo, people will tag their names cause thats a high profile name but for the upandcoming producer, it’s just not happening. I realized this when the track I did for Lil Kim “Chillin Tonight” was released. It was released digitally and nobody knew who produced it. I was thinking to myself “Damn, how the fuck am I gonna ever be able to get my name up if this digital world does’nt really print credits?” When I would go to any blog or website, it was only Lil Kim “chillin Tonight”. On Itunes, same. This is something that really could prohibit the producer from growing in namesake and thats crucial because along with our music, we depend on our buzz to prosper and get more work, press etc. Think about it and please if you post anything on your blog, website, myspace or whatever. Please take the time to list the credits.
